Global automation in Perfumería Gal

Perfumería Gal is part of Puig Beauty & Fashion Group, a multinational firm dedicated to personal care products, with 10 production centres and more than 5.000 people in staff. In 2001, due to a production increasing, its factory was moved from the center of Alcalá de Henares town to its outskirts. GD Convey was selected to carry out the complete automation of its new plant, which included loads reception from the supplier on pallets, connection of production lines with automatic box pallettising and wrapping of end product pallets.

The selected solution gathers the following subsystems:
· Pallets reception, delivered to first level by 2 elevators for 2000 Kg and conveying to the production white area.
· Covers and plastic bottles introduction area, with 2 pallet elevators transported by shuttle car to 56 stations. Area manufactured in stainless steel.
· Production area consists of 11 lines with continuous elevators for the transport of boxes to pallettising area.
· Manual production area, with 9 lines for automatic carton sealers and transport of boxes to pallettising area.
· Flows merging area.
· Automatic palletising area with 4 articulated robots.
· Manual pallettising area with 5 hydraulic tables.
· Pallet evacuation area by shuttle cars, plus two automatic wrapping machines.

It has been implemented the flow management software ConveyMFC and the pallettising management software ConveyPal which give the possibility of product tracking and different pallettising mosaics, both developed by GD Convey.
Results obtained with this new installation have reached an increasing production, flexibility, plant organization, the improvement of ergonomical conditions, production control and product tracking in the whole plant.
