GD Convey automates 4 order picking centres of Siglo XXI by Pick to Light systems

GD Convey has delivered during 2005 and 2006 the automation for 4 centers of Comercial de Prensa Siglo XXI, Distribution Company of newspapers and magazines of the Logista group, in Madrid , Zaragoza, Barcelona y Alicante.

Siglo XXI treats promotions and collections from the manufacturer to the point of sales -news-stand, pavillon, shops- and vice versa. It is a complex process as there are managed numerous references, in variety and number. For these projects, pioneer in Spain , Siglo XXI has chosen GD Convey due to its experience in picking processes automation.
• The installations consist of newspapers and magazines return area . The media, when returned from the point of sale,
  are spread out homogeneously between the tables dedicated to newspaper treatment and magazines treatment.
• In each table, promotions from the media are detached, to be retrieved and sent to the publisher.
• According to each reference, some are sent to a paper compactor through elevated belt conveyors and the rest are
  removed from the ERP system and sent back to the Publisher by means of a circuit of conveyors. In the magazines return
  area there have been installed several conveyors rings for trays, suitable for the manual picking areas of media.

The main area is dedicated to the order picking for the points of sale, carried out by a Pick to Light systems managed by ConveyPick. The management software receives the orders from the Siglo XXI host and manages the picking areas, the displays (more than 1.000 units), and the correspondence between the units and weights. Subsequently there are grouped by routes and transported to the expeditions area.
